Anglia Ruskin University StoryLab set out to bring the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust's work to life through VR, but first needed to understand audience appetite, emotional connection, and willingness to pay.
Online focus groups spanned VR enthusiasts, Antarctica fans, cruise travellers, secondary students, teachers and British Antarctic Survey staff. Using historical footage, early VR builds, audio and archive imagery, reactions, story impact and improvement opportunities were explored. The insight revealed strong potential for an experience that balances education and entertainment, helping refine the concept and maximise reach.
